About Dr. Maki
Kevin C. Maki, Ph.D.
Kevin C. Maki, Ph.D. is the President and Chief Science Officer of Midwest Biomedical Research. His research focus is the investigation of lifestyle and pharmaceutical interventions aimed at managing risk factors for metabolic and cardiovascular dysfunction across the lifespan.
Dr. Maki is also an Adjunct Professor and Dean’s Eminent Scholar at Indiana University and the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology. He is a Fellow of the National Lipid Association, The Obesity Society, and the American College of Nutrition, as well as a certified Clinical Lipid Specialist and Vice President of the Board of Governors of the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology.
Dr. Maki has participated in more than 250 clinical trials and observational studies as an investigator, consultant, or statistician and has published more than 300 scientific papers, books, and book chapters. He earned a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health, and an M.S. in Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiovascular Health from Benedictine University. He gives national and international lectures on how genetics and lifestyle influence cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus, the use of lifestyle and pharmaceutical interventions to prevent and manage cardiometabolic diseases, and the strengths and weaknesses of research methods used to study chronic disease risk.
